Part Six

"Please state the nature…" the Doctor began. "What is going on here!?!"

"Repair her!" Seven said, voice wavering slightly.

"I have to find out what's wrong with her first." The Doctor replied haughtily.

The Doctor injected a hypospray into Alexa's neck to sedate her. Just as Seven had laid her down on the biobed she jumped back.

"What is happening to her?"

"What?" B'Elanna asked, rushing over. "Oh shit…"

"What is it!?" Seven asked urgently. "Ohhhh." She breathed after the realization.

"Cranial ridges…" B'Elanna breathed running a gentle hand over Alexa's newly formed ridges. "No wonder her head was hurting."

"Indeed." Seven stated in complete wonder.

"I guess you'd like to know she is now forming her redundant Klingon organs as well?" the Doctor said.

"Good thing she's sedated." B'Elanna said.

"Indeed." Was all Seven could come up with again.

"I'll be keeping her for the remainder of the night." He said. "Both of you need your rest."

B'Elanna and Seven only stared at him like he was nuts.

"You think we're going to leave her side for more than two seconds?" B'Elanna asked.

"You need your rest."

"Our baby needs us." B'Elanna said, gently stroking Alexa's hair. She then narrowed her eyes on the Doctor; "I will not leave her side."

"She is hardly a baby." The Doctor retorted. "She is fully grown save for a couple inches."

"She is OUR baby." Seven interjected feeling the flush of anger rise in her face.

"Oh… women." He said. "I'll be monitoring her."

With that the obnoxious hologram disappeared. The two women turned back to Alexa. Now it was Seven who ran a hand over Alexa's ridges.

"They are beautifully formed." She said. "Just like yours bang'wi."

"Not to hard… Not to soft…" B'Elanna said just above a whisper.

"Just enough to prove who she is." Seven smiled. "As if there were any doubt."

"Oh whatever. She's just like you."

Then B'Elanna smiled.

"Except for those not so controlled flares of Klingon temper."

"Why now does she acquire the ridges?" Seven wondered.

"Maybe the nanoprobes hid them? Kind of like an adaption?"

"Indeed."

"Now they wouldn't find any reason to hide them, goes for those organs as well."

Seven nodded in agreement.

"Do you think she'll understand about why she's 17 now and not 6?" B'Elanna asked.

"She is intelligent." Seven said. "Alexa will have questions and she will receive the answers."

"But will she understand?"

"I… I do not know." The ex-drone whispered. "How can she understand something that we do not?"

"I didn't think about that."

"We should rest." Seven said stifling a yawn.

Borg do not yawn. Not even ex-Borg.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." B'Elanna said, standing and stretching.

Seven stretched out on an adjacent biobed and curled her longer frame around B'Elanna's.

"Bella?" Seven questioned.

"Yes Soch?"

"I love you."

"I love you too."

With that the pair into a restful, yet light sleep. Seven awoke first to Alexa stirring.

"Ow." Was the first moaned word. "Fuckinhellwhatthefuckiswrongwithmyhead." Was the rest of it.

Seven smiled slightly and shook her head.

'She certainly acquired her Sos'Oy's mouth.' She thought to herself.

Seven gently uncurled herself from the protective hold she had on B'Elanna and went to Alexa.

"How do you feel?" Seven asked lightly placing a hand on the girl's shoulder.

"Mmmmphmyfuckinhead." Alexa mumbled. "I didn't get drunk last night… and when have I ever had a hang over any way?"

"You can think your Sos'Oy for that."

"Which part?"

"All of it." Seven bit back a smile. "You have cranial ridges now as well as all of your redundant Klingon organs."

"That explains the headache… and the stomach ache." Alexa muttered. "Wait. Cranial ridges?"

"Yes." Her Mama said gently. "They are exquisite."

"Yeah! On her!" Alexa said pointing at B'Elanna. "I'm pasty white!"

"I do not see what the color of your skin has to do with your ridges."

"Klingons are dark skinned." Alexa said. "How would you look with ridges?"

"Like you, but with blonde hair." Seven retorted.

Alexa smiled. She liked her Mama's sense of humor.

"I'm getting a tan like right now." Alexa said. "Where would I do that?"

"The Holodeck." Seven said. "But the Doctor has not cleared you yet."

"I'm fine." She said jumping down from the bed and heading for the door.

"Alexandra-Brianna Nicole Hansen-Torres" Seven said icily.

Alexa stopped dead in her tracks. B'Elanna woke up.

"You will wait for the Doctor." Seven finished a little gentler.

"But Mamaaaa!"

Seven folded her arms across her chest and stood her ground with her best "I am not arguing with you because you will do as I say." look. Alexa chewed on her lip a minute then crossed her arms over her chest. Unbeknownst to them B'Elanna was desperately chewing her own lip trying not to laugh.

"Only because I still have a headache." She muttered sitting back on the biobed.

"Thank you." Seven said, kissing the girl on her third ridge.

"Do you have a mirror?" Alexa asked.

"I think we can replicate one real fast in the replicator." B'Elanna interrupted the partially amusing scene.

"Yeah yeah…" Alexa said. "Wait just a minute...a replicator?"
