Not Bluffing

"Quaylebird to Blue Leader, within targeting range, over."

"This is Blue Leader," Sam said into the microphone, "mission is a-go. You have authorization to fire. Acquire target. Over."

"Copy that Blue Leader, acquiring target now." Static. "Target acquired. Request authorization code, over."

Jack nodded affirmative to Sam. She activated the mic again, "Authorization code: 2-7-Foxtrot-Yankee-Oscar-Uniform-Kilo-India-November-Sierra-Echo-Yankee. Fire when ready. Over."

Half an hour later Sam and Jack sat at the briefing room table playing poker. They both had excellent poker faces and they were currently all-in. Jack laid out his two pair with a grin. He looked worried when Sam's face remained passive. She laid a full house on top of his hand.

"Good thing we aren't playing with our money," Jack pushed the kitty to Sam, "otherwise I'd feel bad about this."

"Yes sir. Gotta love these time loops, or else I'd owe Janet half this money." Sam neatly laid the cash in individual denominations.

"Yeah, and I'd have to actually listen to one of Daniel's talks. He wouldn't agree to give me $100 otherwise."

General Hammond burst through the door, his face betraying conflicting emotions. "The Chief of Staff just called and reported that Senator Kinsey's house was attacked a short while ago."

"Attacked? You don't say…" Jack pretended to be mildly surprised. He frowned at Sam. So much for her poker face.
