When she was seventeen, Olivia Spencer never thought she'd celebrate Mother's Day again. Her tiny little daughter was such a painful reminder of that horrible night. Her daughter was off somewhere in the world being loved by another woman, someone better as a mother than she was.

When she was thirty-three, Olivia celebrated Mother's Day finally. Her baby girl, Emma, brought such joy and stability to her life, which had often times been filled with such sorrow and insanity. Her child's father was failing, though, and she was still alone.

Olivia picked up Chessie and held her close as she talked on the phone to Ava. Natalia and Emma finished up making heart shaped banana pancakes. A little black magnet proudly attached Rafe's handwritten letter to the fridge. Natalia took a moment to look at six month old Chessie in her lover's arms. She smiled, blinking back tears of happiness. Emerald eyes met her own chocolate ones. They knew in that moment that the Mother's Days in their past made them who they were today, a family, a home, together.
