Kiss With A Fist
Better Run (Epilogue)

By wildwildwood

"So I'll swing by and pick you up for dinner?" Jane asked, taking a sip of her coffee and swinging her legs from where she sat on the counter in the morgue.  She loved watching Maura at work, even if she didn't love watching what Maura was working on.

"Sounds good, hand me those forceps?" Maura asked, nodding towards the tray of instruments on the counter beside Jane.

"Here. And I warn you, don't eat lunch.  Ma'll get upset if you don't eat enough."

"Thanks." Maura took the forceps from her girlfriend. "And what you're saying is that you're going to the gym with me tomorrow morning?" She batted her eyes through her goggles.

"In the morning? But that's so early!" Jane whined.

"What did I tell you about what happens if I can't fit into my clothes?"

"You go naked?" Jane asked hopefully.

"No. You go to the gym with me."

"Why though? It's not my fault that sweater didn't fit. I'm sure it just shrunk at the dry cleaner's."

"And that's what makes you a good girlfriend." Maura smiled as she snapped on her face mask.

"Face mask and goggles? I'm heading up." Jane pushed off from the counter and quickly placed a peck on Maura's cheek.

"Jane!" Maura replied, a blush evident across what little skin was left showing.

"What?"

"We're at work. That's unprofessional. And naughty."

"Naughty?" She liked the way Maura said that word, with just the right amount of shock and seduction.

"Yes. And I don't think we've reached that stage. Not yet anyways."

"Oh really? And what do we have to do to reach that stage, Dr. Isles?"

"Well..."

Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back

Jane worked on controlling the smirk on her face and flutter in her stomach as she walked to the elevators.  Yes, she thought.  She would most definitely enjoy being Dr. Isles' girlfriend.
