Hand In Hand
By Erin

After picking up her daughter from school and taking her home, Dr. Melinda Warner goes into her office sits down in silence. It had been a dramatic experience for her both personally and professionally, but she remained a strong woman through it all. After having to shoot Daniel Hunter to save his life she didn't know how much more she could take. Just then Detective Olivia Benson walks into her office and sits down in the chair across from her. Melinda looks up at her from her desk with sad eyes, she already knows what Olivia's going to ask, she puts her hand up to stop any questions from coming, but she knows Olivia too well and she knows that she'll ask the questions anyway.

"Hey, I heard about the shooting."

"Yes and," responds Melinda looking down to her desk once again.

"I just wanted to come to check up on you, you know to see if you're all right. I was worried about you."

"Olivia, I'm fine really."

"Melinda after you shoot someone you're never fine believe me I know. It's not something you can just put out of your mind it's always going to be there whether you want to admit or not."

"Olivia, you're always worried about me."

"Yes and I have every right to be worried about you. I love you, Melinda."

"I love you too, Olivia you know that."

"I know you do."

Olivia walks over to Melinda, kisses her lips gently. Melinda returns the kiss just as gentle.

"Come on, let's go."

They both envelope each other in a loving embrace and walk out of the office hand in hand.
