"I thought I said Eric should call," Blair said when she answered her phone.

"Blair," Serena begged even though she could hear the slight smile in the other girl's voice. "Just come let me in."

"Fine," the brunette said as she snapped her phone shut. Within seconds, she made it down the stairs to buzz the blonde in.

"I am so sorry about last night." Serena didn't even bother with hellos anymore. Not when it came to Blair.

"Was he worth it?" Blair asked, trying to mask the hurt in her voice.

Serena sighed and followed Blair into the kitchen. "That's the thing. I think so, but I don't even know," she half-lied. She knew that there was no one that was worth hurting Blair for. "I'm sorry."

"At least you stopped by like you said. Albeit, different circumstances than you probably imagined."

Serena laughed. "Definitely different. I know I was mad last night, but thank you."

"For what?" Blair asked, perching herself on the island in the kitchen next to Serena.

"Eric. He really needed it. I think my mom did, too. She brought him home last night."

"Really?" Serena nodded. "That's so awesome, S! C'mere," Blair said, pulling Serena in between her legs and hugging her. "I know you wanted him home."

"I did." Serena placed one hand on the outside of Blair's thigh and brought the other one to play with her loose curls. "I need to tell you something. But I don't think you're going to be happy about it."

Blair's eyes flashed with panic. "What now?" She couldn't imagine what else Serena would have to say after the whole Nate fiasco.

"I don't think Dan's worth it."

Blair smiled. "That's not something I'd be upset about."

"I know." Serena brushed her fingertips over her cheeks, recommitting everything to memory. "But the reason why might be," the blonde whispered, then leaned up on her tiptoes and kissed Blair's soft lips. The brunette's hands instantly went to Serena's shoulders, pulling her in closer. After a few moments, Serena reluctantly pulled back and leaned her forehead against Blair's. "The first time you kissed me was in Chuck's hot tub. I haven't been able to get the way you taste out of my mouth since. I've kissed plenty of boys, but I can't forget you. It always comes back to you."

"You were drunk."

"And you tasted like dirty martinis, cigarettes, that sweet cherry lip gloss you wear every day, and the slightest bit of chlorine."

"You never said," Blair noted, bringing her hand up to rest on Serena's smooth cheek.

"What did you want me to say?" Serena asked, her voice soft and slightly cracked with emotion.

"Anything."

"I never knew how," Serena replied honestly.

Blair smiled and kissed Serena slowly, dragging her teeth over the blonde's lower lip. "Let's start a new sleepover tradition," she said with a smile. "You, me, my bed."

"Why Miss Waldorf! I can't believe you'd suggest something so scandalous!" Serena exclaimed in mock shock.

Blair grinned. "Perv," she said, smacking Serena lightly on the arm and sliding off the counter so she was pressed between it and Serena. "This is new and we're going to treat it as such. You can't expect to just waltz in here with your long blonde hair and gaping, doe eyes and perfectly kissable lips and just get in my pants. A Waldorf girl must be properly wined and dined."

Serena rolled her eyes. "How about I steal some of your mom's red and we split a pint of white chocolate raspberry Häagen-Dazs?"

Blair laughed and leaned up to place a kiss on the tip of Serena's nose. "A woman after my own heart."

"I do know you best," Serena said. She desperately wanted to ask what this meant - for her and Blair and also for Blair and Nate - but she knew better than to ruin the moment. Tomorrow, she thought.

"Come on," Blair said, slipping her hand into Serena's and smiling at the way their fingers instinctively tangled together. "Tomorrow, we can resume our Sunday morning tradition."
